SEO - Search Engine Optimization
Is your website being found by search engines?
If you have a website, or you're thinking about creating an internet presence, these are some of the questions that you should be asking yourself and your web designer.
- Incoming links - What relevant companies are linking to your site?
- Do you have crosslinking within your website to provide more links to relevant pages?
- Do your Title Tags provide an accurate, descriptive title of your website page using relevant key words?
- Is your meta tag description relevant to the content on the web page?
- Naming conventions : Are your file names descriptive of the content on that page? Are your image names descriptive as well, or are they named img01.jpg?
- Have your "alt tags" been filled out for screen readers to "read" them?
- Has your website been validated error free?
- What happens when you type in www.aglocreations.com and aglocreations.com Is the end result www.aglocreations.com? In other words, is "yoursite.com" being redirected to "www.yoursite.com?" In "geek terms," this is called a "301 re-direct."
- When writing for the web, you are writing for the end user with search engines in mind.
These SEO guidelines will help you increase visibility on the world wide web. However, this is only the beginning of SEO. Now the questions that needs to be asked - "How will your paying customer find YOU online?" This brings us to Marketing your Website.
